“appetite for destruction” 30th anniversary Poster

2017 • 11x17” Poster

Poster for a design contest commemorating the 30th anniversary of Guns N’ Roses’ debut album Appetite For Destruction.

Designed to fit the band’s thirty year legacy and visual style, this poster incorporates elements from both the iconic album cover sold in stores and the original Robert Williams album cover. I chose to combine the aesthetics into a cohesive design, featuring a red skull character at the center, wearing three accessories representing the three frontmen: Slash (top hat), Axl (bandana), and Duff (locked chain necklace). The two bandmates no longer in the band, Izzy and Steven, are shown emerging from the static of the televisions in the background, alongside lyrics from the each song on the album. The wall of televisions references the music video for “Welcome to the Jungle” which features news programming as a torture device.

The two original LP album covers: (left) the commercial in-store cover and (right) the banned original cover.
